I don't think I knew the power of consistently praying, even if you don't get what you want, until this morning at around 7:13...As many people may know, Anna, my girlfriend, is in Australia right now with the People to People Student Ambassador Program. Well unfortunately, communication is pretty difficult because cross-continental phone calls can be quite expensive; not to mention, they had to be in bed by 9:00 p.m., or 7:00 a.m. here.
Yesterday, she called me at around 6:45 a.m. and we were able to talk for like ten minutes, which was GREAT! So today, I woke up at 6:30 and immediately started to pray that she would have a chance to call me. I prayed and I prayed and I prayed. Well 7:00 came around and, no call, so as you may imagine, I was pretty down.
This is where it gets good!
At this point, I didn't really know what to do. For some reason, I just continued to pray, "Lord please, just give me a chance to talk to Anna sometime within the next 24 hours. Please Lord, just let this be a possibility." I guess for you to understand my urgency, I need to tell you that after that night in the resort, she would be changing locations to a rain forest for a week, where there would be total loss of communication. Well when I stopped praying, I looked at the clock and it was 7:13, and no later than when I stopped praying, I received a text message from Facebook that said "Anna Nicole Harris has sent you a message on Facebook: Hey sweetie, I bought some time on the internet, come get on so that we can talk :)"
I don't think that I have ever ran as fast as I did when I was running to my computer! As it turns out, her curfew was ever so conveniently bumped to 11:00 p.m., or 9:00 a.m. here. Anyways, We got to talk for twenty minutes on Facebook Chat and it was probably the fastest twenty minutes that I have ever experienced! Well time got cut off pretty fast so we had to bid our goodbyes.
Ten minutes later I get a phone call from her and she tells me we didn't get to talk enough and that she bought another of phone time for the night! It was just so awesome!
I know it may not seem like much, but that was a pretty big win for me, and as far as I am concerned, an act of God. I really think it was more a test of my Faith and persistence than anything. It just goes to show you that prayer really does work, and if it doesn't, just keep at it. You may not get the answer you want, when you want it, but God really does care, and he will answer your prayers on his own agenda, not yours.
